Annual Events

28 Hours of Hope

Every spring for the past 14 years, for 28 straight hours, The Morning Guys on K99 radio (Brian Gary and Todd Harding) are on the air continuously, working to raise funds for the Child Advocacy Center, A Kid’s Place in Greeley and the Namaqua Center in Loveland. There are country music artists and celebrities on-the-air during the 28 hours to support the efforts to help all three organizations. This annual event results in two tired radio hosts and much-needed financial assistance for us, as well as increased awareness around the issue of child abuse!

The 14th annual “28 Hours of Hope” was held on March 22nd and 23rd, 2012, and resulted in over $73,000 in on-line donations and pledges.

Go to K99′s website, http://k99.com, for more information on the artists who were on-air last year and for details on 28 Hours of Hope and other great events they are involved in.

Annual Breakfast

The 2nd annual Child Advocacy Center Breakfast will be held the morning of Wednesday October 24th, 2012. This year’s speaker will be Erin Merryn, an adult survivor of childhood sexual abuse. Erin has spoken around the country and appeared on numerous television programs to speak on the topic of sexual abuse of children.

Erin first broke her silence regarding her own abuse in 1998 at the age of 13, when she walked into a CAC in Illinois and spoke to a forensic interviewer. Below is an excerpt from her website, www.erinmerryn.net:

”Since 2004 Erin has been traveling to various places across America sharing her triumph over a childhood of sexual abuse and how she went after a law that was passed in Illinois called Erin’s Law in February 2011. A voice once ashamed to tell anyone what happened behind closed doors has now opened that door to the world to expose a silent epidemic in an unstoppable crusade to put a face and voice on sexual abuse.”

Please plan on joining us to hear Erin talk about her survival and her mission to provide child abuse prevention training to all children across the country.
